Blogging on BMJ.com!

BMJ now has several blogs available for reading on their site.  These include a weekly review of the leading medical journals, news reports from conference attendees worldwide, and a blog featuring a BMJ editor tracking her carbon footprint.   Read all about it and contribute (if you like) at http://blogs.bmj.com/

Congratulations

Recently the science librarians at the USF Tampa Library and the USF Shimberg Health Sciences Library asked for your participation in the Information Seeking Behavior of Science Researchers survey.  Designed by UNC-Chapel Hill, the results of this nationwide survey will provide us with details about the information needs of science researchers at USF. By completing the survey you registered your department for a chance to win one of three $450 travel stipends for graduate student travel.  The three departments with the highest percentage of participation in the survey will be awarded a stipend.

The winners are:      1st Biology                 – 34% participation

                           2nd  Geography            – 22% participation

                           3rd  Psychology            – 18% participation

The library will notify these departments as soon as the funds become available.

Thank you very much for your participation in this survey. The USF Libraries are committed to improving library services to USF science researchers.

AnthroSource Arrives!

Anthrosource_5

The USF Libraries now subscribe to AnthroSource, a collection of journals and newsletters in Anthropology.

AnthroSource strives to unite anthropological content such as peer reviewed journals, newsletters, and bulletins, in one online resource. A collaboration of the American Anthropological Association (AAA) and the University of California Press, AnthroSource provides current issues for fifteen of the AAA's most critical peer-reviewed publications, including American Anthropologist, American Ethnologist, Anthropology and Education Quarterly, and Medical Anthropology Quarterly. It also serves as an electronic archive of all AAA journals. With USF’s subscriptions to JSTOR, there is continuous access from AnthroSource back to JSTOR for key AAA publications, including American Anthropologist. Registered users can take advantage of personalization options, such as saved searches and email alerts. Includes reference linking to ensure ease of use with the anthropological online resources.

Open Access Journal Chronicles Cyberinfrastructure Research

CT Watch Quarterly is an open access journal that describes advances in cyberinfrastructure research.  Cyberinfrastructure broadly refers to both the physical and electronic environments that support information processing services that are deliverable over the World Wide Web. The information processes that occur on both a national and global scale include functions like: data capture, data storage, data management, and visualization of data.

CTWatch Quarterly is a publication of The CyberInfrastructure Partnership (CIP). The CyberInfrastructure Partnership (CIP) is a joint effort led by the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) and the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) to help scientists and engineers take full advantage of the high-end cyberinfrastructure resources funded by the National Science Foundation. For more information about cyberinfrastructure visit the CTWatch website.
